SSgt. Renante Armamento, a martial arts instructor with the Armed Forces of the Philippines Marine Corps, leads U.S. service members in warm-up exercises prior to beginning stick fighting during Balikatan 2011 here April 11. Pekiti Tirsia Kali, the martial art of choice for the AFP, emphasizes quick and evasive movements. Balikatan is an annual bilateral training exercise between U.S. forces and the AFP to maintain operational readiness and strengthen the U.S. and Philippine relationship.
