A plaque is displayed during the chef of the quarter compaction on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. Okinawa, Japan, Sept. 2, 2021. The food service specialist competition is a quarterly event that gives food service Marines an opportunity to highlight their culinary skills. The two-day competition kicked off with a written and oral examination that tests competitors’ military appearance, knowledge, and bearing, and the second portion of the event was focused on an evaluation of the Marines’ culinary, sanitation and nutritional skills.
