Mission

The Assistant Chief of Staff, G-7 provides advice and continuous support to:  the Commander Marine Forces Japan; Commander Marine Corps Installations Pacific; and Commanding General, Marine Corps Base Camp S. D. Butler on political-military and policy matters of interest to the U.S. Marine Corps throughout Japan and manages the relationship with Government of Japan, Okinawa Prefecture Government, and local municipalities in order to facilitate optimal support to our operating forces, other commands, service members, and all family members.

ComRel across Camp Butler

Across Okinawa, each USMC installation has a ComRel program that caters to local community needs:

  • Beach cleanups, beautifications and landscaping efforts;

  • English language lessons and conversation practice;

  • Community service and donations at nurseries, elderly homes and shelters;

  • Facility tours for host nation schools and universities;

  • Cultural exchanges and sporting engagements (Eisa, Harii, Okinawa Sumo, etc.);

  • Ceremonies and open-base festivals;
