Air Force names 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year

Air Force officials released the names of the 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 2004.

An Air Force selection board considered 45 nominees who represented major commands, direct reporting units and air staff agencies. The board convened at the Air Force Personnel Center here in May and selected the Airmen based on superior leadership, job performance and personal achievements.

The winners are:

-- Senior Master Sgt. Michael David of the 437th Communications Squadron at Charleston Air Force Base, S.C.

-- Senior Master Sgt. Trace Edinborough of the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia.

-- Senior Master Sgt. Valise Godley of the 735th CS at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

-- Master Sgt. John Knipe of the 1st Air Support Operations Group at Fort Lewis, Wash.

-- Master Sgt. Jonathan Rosa of Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Special Tactics Squadron at Louisville.

-- Tech. Sgt. Stephanie Clark of the 88th Aerial Port Squadron at McGuire AFB, N.J.

-- Tech. Sgt. Miguel Ortega-Llarena of the 96th Security Forces Squadron at Eglin AFB, Fla.

-- Staff Sgt. Aaron Davenport of the 56th Civil Engineer Squadron at Luke AFB, Ariz.

-- Staff Sgt. Teresa Mossoni of the 90th Space Wing at F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo.

-- Staff Sgt. Terri Palmer of the 15th Air Support Operations Squadron at Pope AFB, N.C.

-- Senior Airman William Moore of the 31st Rescue Squadron at Kadena AB, Japan.

-- Senior Airman Kurt Marunick of the 347th Maintenance Squadron at Moody AFB, Ga.

The Airmen will be honored during the Air Force Association national convention in Washington in September, and they will serve as members of the AFA's enlisted advisory council for the next year. (Courtesy of AFPC News Service)
