CAMP KINSER, OKINAWA, Japan -- The family readiness office for Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, hosted a fair to celebrate the month of the military child at Camp Kinser April 16.
The Month of the Military Child Awareness fair included a door prize giveaway, face painting, a dunk tank, a miniature obstacle course, a D.J. and even a clown.
The purpose of this fair was to show appreciation for service members and their families, for surviving through the hardships of military life, said Bobette Rossiter, a family readiness officer with CLR-35.
Marines with Supply Battalion and Maintenance Battalion, CLR-35, participated in the event.
It made sense that the sister battalions coordinated this event together, because many of the spouses know each other and their children go to school together, Rossiter said.
Marines without children from both battalions volunteered during the fair, added Tasha Meak, a family readiness officer for CLR-35.
“It was very cool,” said Hailey Lauvach, 10, a door prize winner.
Fair attendees with winning tickets took their pick from a table of action figures, dolls and other toys.
“We made sure every child was a winner,” said Rossiter. “Today was for them, and they knew it.”
